StreamCenter, Inc. Named Finalist for Prestigious, Statewide Incubator of the Year Award

One of Three Nominated in the Technology Service Company Category

COLLEGE PARK, MD - May 7, 2004 - The 2004 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year selection committee announced today that StreamCenter, Inc. has been selected as a finalist for the top award in the category of Technology Service Company.

StreamCenter offers associations and conference organizers videotaping, production, editorial, and hosting services; however, the company’s differentiator lies in its back-end eCommerce and content management system. With the goal of creating the largest repository on the Internet of professional education from a variety of media including Webcasts, videos, CDs and electronic documents, StreamCenter’s proprietary technology is scaleable enough to accommodate the vast amount of knowledge that is created every year from professional conferences and meetings.

Using customized, industry taxonomies and leveraging metadata from meeting content, the company’s sophisticated search-and-retrieval system will enable associations to reach a much larger, global audience while receiving royalties from access to pay-per-view Webcasts and acquisition of other educational content.

According to Rob Spar of Saul Ewing LLP, a Baltimore based investment firm and sponsor of the statewide annual event, "The applications were outstanding this year and the Selection Committee had a very difficult time in picking finalists. As a result, some extremely well deserving companies did not make the list even though strong arguments could be made for virtually every applicant." StreamCenter, Inc. will compete in the Technology Services Companies category against DH Web Inc., a client of the Technical Innovation Center at Hagerstown Community College, and Telecontinuity, Inc., located in the Maryland Technology Development Center.

In addition to the Technology Service Company of the Year Award category, this year's award categories include: Lifescience Company, Information Technology Company, Technology Transfer Company, New Incubator Company, and Graduate Company of the Year. The 2004 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards ceremony will be held at the Center Club in Baltimore on June 16, 2004.
